The 136th IPU Assembly

The 136th Assembly took place in Dhaka, Bangladesh during 1 - 5 April, 2017. The IPU Assembly (formerly known as the Inter-Parliamentary Conference) is the principal statutory body that expresses the views of the Inter-Parliamentary Union on political issues. It brings together parliamentarians to study international problems and make recommendations for action. The Assembly works in accordance with its Rules. Participation of permanent observers in IPU Assemblies is regulated by Practical modalities of the rights and responsibilities of observers. Most members are affiliated to one of the six geopolitical groups that are currently active in the IPU.

Asian Int’l Trade & Tourism Expo 2016

The Asian International Trade & Tourism Expo 2016 held at the Bashundhara International Convention City in Dhaka, Bangladesh during 31 May – 04 June 2016. Asia is considered to be the fastest-growing region in the world with the GDP growth in the Asia-Pacific region surged at an average annual rate of 6.3 per cent & South Asia with 6.4 percent compared with growth of 3.1 per cent in the rest of the world. The real driver of the world economy has been Asia, which has accounted for over half of the world’s growth since 2001. Asia has 21% contribution to the increase in world GDP. Keeping this in view, CEMS USA has launched a series of exhibition titled ‘Asian International Trade Expo’ showcasing all products and services from Asian countries. Such an exhibition displaying products and services is necessary to bring the Asian countries together under one roof which would also increase trade and bilateral relations within the Asian nations.

Hockey: U18 Asia Cup 16

24 - 30 Sept. 2016
The Boys U18 Asia Cup 2016 took place at the MaulanaBhashani Hockey Stadium in Dhaka, Bangladesh from 24 to 30 September 2016. India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Chinese Taipei, China, Oman & Hong Kong China took part in the event. At the end of an exciting event, A last minute strike gave India a 5-4 victory in their final game against hosts Bangladesh and helped them lift the U-18 Men's Asia Cup.

9th Global Forum on Migration and Dev. Summit

10 -12 Dec 2016
The 9th Global Forum on Migration and Development Summit will take place in Dhaka, Bangladesh on 10 -12 December 2016. The Global Forum on Migration and Development is an initiative of United Nations Member States to address the migration and development interconnections in practical and action-oriented ways. It is a voluntary, informal, non-binding and government-led process to advance understanding and cooperation on the mutually reinforcing relationship between migration and development and to foster practical and action-oriented outcomes. This is for the second time that Asia will host this important global event that began in 2007. A large number of human rights organisations, migrants’ associations, development NGOs and international organizations are expected to participate in the event.

Asian Art Biennial 2016

Asian Art Biennale is an international eventwith local artist’s pieces being displayed and works from countries such as Nepal, Iran, China, Thailand, Korea, Pakistan, Egypt, Japan Chile, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, Romania, Turkey, Fiji, Italy, Saudi Arabia and many more. Asian Art Biennale Bangladesh, since its beginning in 1981, has attempted to display the kaleidoscope of various artistic endeavors of our time in which continuity and change come together.

Dhaka Int’l Trade Fair

The Dhaka International Trade Fair, (DITF) organized by Export Promotion Bureau and the Ministry of Commerce, Government of Bangladesh held at Sher-E-Bangla Nagar in Dhaka during January 01-31 2017. This event highlights on projected quality exportable of Bangladesh to the visitors from home and abroad. The local producers in the remote areas of rural Bangladesh who do not have financial strength to participate in International trade fair had the opportunity to display their products to the buyer from abroad at this fair. On the other hand, the overseas participants had the opportunity to display their products to the consumers of Bangladesh where domestic market of consumer goods is expanding. The foreign participants also had the opportunity to display their state-of-the-art technology to the local producers and exporters. Besides, the participants were able to identify business contacts with prospect of entering into subsequent business negotiations.

BASIS SOFTEXPO 2017

Int’l Police Conference, Dhaka

12-14 March 2017
A three-day conference for police and other law enforcement officers from 15 countries on the topic of militancy, terrorism and transnational crime took place in Dhaka. The programmes was inaugurated by Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and a total number of fifty-eight foreign representatives, including Interpol Secretary General Jürgen Stock, and police chiefs from Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Malaysia are attending the conference.
